The Coeur d'Alene river has been on a great water flow drop from 4450 cfs to 2950 cfs in the last few days. Waters above Shoshone creek has clarity of about 6 ft, making just about anything tasty, easy to see, and the fish are looking! If you're planning a day on the river soon don't forget your streamer rod and bugs in the olive, tan/brown or black. Solitude's Sculpin Big Gulp- Black sz 4 and the Ziwi- Olive were favorite bugs lately. We have seen a handful of big lumbering salmon flies so anything big and foamy with legs and some orange is going to get a lot of attention on top. For the smaller of the bugs, BWOs and Grey Drakes are out while the sun is shining. Blue Winged Olive Extended body size 16-18 (pictured below is the hatch to match) and the Grey Drake Cripple sz 12-14 made a great day of top water action.
